Forty years ago when Massachusetts first passed a collective
bargaining law for public employees, the Boston Association of School
Administrators and Supervisors was formed. B.A.S.A.S. is now Local
6 A.F.S.A., The American Federation of School Administrators.
B.A.S.A.S. currently represents 320 Boston School administrators,
all of the middle-management of the school system. Our job titles
include: Ass't Headmaster, Ass't Principal, Director of Instruction,
Dean, Ass't Dean, Sr. Advisor, Cluster Coordinator, Department Head,
Program Director, Bilingual Coordinator, Etc.
Our members have been selected for their ability and experience
to lead the schools, develop curriculum, and evaluate staff. They
are the key components in the effort to improve the Boston Public
Schools.
